Directions for use:
Use this soap for everything from your hair to your face and body! For hair we recommend washing your scalp and hair with a baking soda rinse* before switching to a shampoo bar to remove some of the shampoo build up on your hair and scalp. Rinse. Then rub soap bar directly on hair, working in a “top to bottom of scalp” swiping motion. Work it into the the scalp, not just the hair, then work to a lather and rinse. Repeat, or repeat with one of our our Conditioner Bars. Now wash your face and the rest of your body, avoiding mucous membranes. Rinse your hair with a AC vinegar rinse**, then squeeze out extra water and style as usual. We do not recommend using a commercial conditioner as it will make the transition to natural more difficult. (You would be continuing to coat your hair with the product you are attempting to remove from your hair.) Use the vinegar rinse, then follow up with one of our leave in hair finishers.
Drying hair: We recommend a rather strange technique for drying your hair. Buy a T-shirt a size or two smaller than you normally wear. Make sure it’s 100% Cotton, no substitutes. (Preferably unbleached, non- dyed, organic cotton.) After you wash your hair, squeeze out extra water, with your hands, not a towel. Pull the T-shirt over your head like you are putting it on. Then pull it up and wrap your hair to dry. I will usually put the Curly Hair Pomade on my hair before this step, which is why I recommend a shirt dedicated to hair. (You’ll get small amounts of the oil on it.) If you apply one of our hair products we do recommend allowing it to absorb for two to three minutes before putting the shirt on your hair.
Baking Soda or Vinegar Rinse
*Just Baking Soda and water, or what I do is get hair soaking wet and simply place Baking Soda on top of head and work through. The baking soda can also be put on top of your head one it’s lathered with the shampoo bar. Be careful to use this in such a way that it can NOT get in your eyes! Do Not get in eyes!
**approximately 5-10% vinegar to 90-95% water. If you can’t stand the smell of Vinegar, use it, then rinse with cold water to remove smell. While we use AC Vinegar, and recommend it, some people have used white Vinegar successfully. Experiment, and make it your own!
Please note: after your hair adjusts to natural you will likely find the need for a vinegar treatment to reduce drastically, sometimes to only once a month or so.

This is probably my favorite soap. Not only does it lather nicely, it smells good and does not dry out my skin. I’ve also found that is a really nice shaving cream alternative.
