Our Luxurious Natural Lotion Bar is a lotion you can truly love! Lotions are an item I feel strongly about. Here’s why:
Dry, cracked hands
I grew up in Phoenix, Arizona, so for years I really didn’t know what cold even was. I mean, we would get excited as kids when we went outside in the winter and our dog’s water dish had a thin layer of ice on it. But I still had dry, cracked hands. And when I grew up and moved back to my southern roots where winter was actually cold ( to a Phoenician, y’all ;), my hands cracked and split in the winter. And then we started using the renewable resource of already downed lumber for our winter heat…this made my hands crack and bleed.
The problem
Weather is only a part of the problem. It is a large part, because after all, you probably don’t get badly dry hands in the summer months, right? What I discovered was lotions were a major part of the problem. Yep, you read that right. But wait! You can’t bear it without lotion, right? Hang with me for a moment while I explain. With regular lotions the first ingredient will almost always be water. (Regular lotions are 70-90% water!) And what do you need if you have water? Chemical preservatives! Here is what you will hear, “But there is less than 2% preservatives in there!” Y’all, that may very well be true, but that is irrelevant. You wouldn’t accept 2% poison in your food! (Well…processed food…but that’s not the scope of this site.) Why would 2% of a product that should help your skin, but is actually bad for your skin, be an acceptable thing? I would like to suggest it’s because we don’t know the alternative!
The alternative
Our Lotion Alternatives were created almost by accident. Early on in the business I formulated a product wrong and ended up with a gloppy mess. But in order to figure out the texture of this glop I put it on my hands. It was wonderful! It was moisturizing! And literally, within hours, my hands felt noticeable softer! After much study, experimentation, and testing, our Lotion Alternative line was born.
But what about the preservatives?
Well, if there isn’t water there won’t be mold. That means you need to make sure you either use the little scoop, dry, to scoop out product, or clean dry fingers to apply the product. (This particular Lotion Concentrate/Alternative doesn’t use a scoop.) However, oils will go rancid after several months, so we do recommend only buying what you will use over the next few months. If you do happen to find yourself with leftovers at the end of your season just put them in the freezer. The texture will be affected on some of the products but they should be usable over quite a while if stored frozen.
Instructions for use: As with all new products, test on small area of skin and wait 24 hours before continued use. If any reaction occurs discontinue use immediately. Use on dry areas in very small amounts as this is extremely concentrated. Replace in container and cap. Massage in and allow 2-3 minutes to fully absorb. If not fully absorbed in this time, you may be using more than necessary.

None of our body products contain water or artificial, chemical preservatives! The product should be used within 4-5 months of purchase, or kept in the refrigerator for longer storage.
Do not use on children under 6 years of age. As with all products keep out of the reach of children.
